I’ll end the GOOD, the BAD, the UGLY, like this:
The good is ND has rich history, yes. Currently a good COACH who is proving that the EXPLOSIVE players ND needs at the SKILL positions to WIN in big time college football are WILLING to sit on ND’s side of the football “table” when ND meets on saturdays to discuss “BUSINESS” with the “BIG EIGHT” or any other team ND might face in a big time bowl game in the future. ND FORGETS that back when GOOD OL’ MR HOLTZ was around ND still had PROBLEMS with DEPTH on ND’s roster. Well maybe not depth but lets just say not as many future nfl players. Or at least you can say not as many as the CANES (CONVICTS), NOLES, GATORS, ETC. So, these teams have always been around. Even when ND was WINNING natn’l CHAMPIONSHIPS and facing teams such as the ‘CANES (CONVICTS) AND NOLES LOADED with plenty of NFL talent, which are teams compairable to toady’s GATORS and USC teams. ND knew back then ND couldn’t compare to the AMOUNT and SIZE of talent they had but ND WAS TOUGH ENOUGH to BEAT those teams on any given day ESPECIALLY at HOME. Don’t forget ND is merely trying to “eat” with them because on any given day EVERY team is BEATABLE, I’m sure any- and everyone would agree with that even if you live in VEGAS, L.A., DALLAS, MIAMI, ETC. ND may or may not EVER be a DYNASTY AGAIN but I’m sure EVERYONE would be happy with 1 ‘CHIP every 10 OR 20 YEARS as long as ND has waited! The DIFFERENCE is back then, HOLTZ was able to get in a players FACE and MOTIVATE the players to if nothing else DEFEND ND’s FIELD, ND’s TURF, ND’s HOME. ND needs that back. The number one IMPROVEMENT I can see to DEFEND ND’s “PLATE” ND’s “SEAT” at the “table” is, ND’s FRONTLINE. LOU had BIG, PHYSICAL, TOUGH, INTELLIGENT LINEMAN who were getting DRAFTED left and right by NFL teams. Saturday ND saw an O-line and D-line that was BEATEN BADLY for ND’s “SEAT” at the “TABLE”, something HOTLZ would never have allowed. I’m NOT saying it is or isn’t ND’s current coaches fault. But EVERY PLAYER at ND’s “TABLE” were recruited to defend ND’s TEAMMATES and ND’s UNIVERSITY. I never experienced college life but I did play football at a high level at MT.CARMEL in CHICAGO, IL., home of players such as McNABB, SIMEON RICE, CHRIS CALLOWAY just to name a few; and attended ND’s games in SOUTH BEND, IN. and at SOLDIER’S FIELD. I know that their is “TALENT” in the MIDWEST along with CAL, TX, FL, OH, ETC. Not as much but it’s their.
The BAD is WHO can PROVE, or will PROVE, or has PROVEN that they can get ND back to that natn’l game? At least 1 more time if not ever again in ND’s LIFETIME. When it really MEANS something IE CHAMPIONSHIP. Because everyweek means SOMETHING to ND that’s nothing new. BUT like on saturday it meant EVERYTHING to NAVY and EVERYTHING to ND in terms of a BCS BID and ND did not show up to play ND’s part.
The UGLY is ND’s CURRENT coach, THOUGH a great MAN albeit, has PROVEN with his RECORD when measuring W’S AND L’S when they count MOST, that he is INEFFECTIVE! How can ND get to the BIG one if ND can’t BEAT the little ONES for ND’s spot at the “TABLE”?

I’m sorry but ref calls were not the reason for this loss. The lack of execution in the red zone is of far more relevance. The key being to have 500 yds of offense and to lose is the key point. I love my team but the next 3 weeks maybe extremely painful.

What happened to Golden Tate? Michael Floyd comes back and we go away from what has worked for us the last 5 games??? Charlie Weis is a true idiot and opportunist! Golden Tate didnt get close to as many catches, touches, or plays catered to his ability to be a huge playmaker for ND. Weis was all on Michael Floyds nuts…Look Weis its too late to try and make Floyd a Heisman candidate so lets just try to win football games….dumb idiot…FIRE FAT BOY NOW!!

We have become on par with the Vandy’s, Duke’s and Rice’s of NCAA…maybe in a few years we will drop from Division 1 and play Furman and the Citadel each week. Maybe that is where we belong?

Urban is not the answer. Half of the players that Florida keep eligable, could not attend ND. He knew this, that is why he went to Florida. Weis did not miss two field goals, fumble twice, and throw a pick. Granted, some of the plays are predictable, but you have to execute. You people are pathetic.

The officiating in college football has been terrible all year. Michael Floyd was held in the endzone twice by the Navy corner. Big problem with instant replay. Last week I saw a call overturned by off field officials in the Indiana/Iowa game where there was no conclusive evidence. Problem is there is no accountability for awful calls.

It’s a shame all this money invested in a coach who gets outcoached by others paid a percentage of what CW gets paid. It’s obvious what CW knows about the pros does not translate to the college game. The defense looks lost and the offense does not adjust to defensive reads. Secondly, you would think someone of CW’s credentials could pick out offenive linemen to play the game. This version of the offensive line is offensive. No first day draft picks from this bunch (maybe Sam Young). This year’s defensive backs were to be the strength of the team. I can get five residents of the St. Mary’s Nursing Home that could cover better. Someone needs to have a talk with Kyle McCarthy about biting on play fakes. If he makes it to the next level, that’s all he’s gonna see. Well, get ready for another four years of rebuilding…

I did not get to see the first half and only heard the halftime score on the radio. As soon as I did here it though, my first thought was this is ridiculous. There is no shame in giving up 14 points to Navy but to get blanked is just unacceptable. The powers that be had better pull the plug this year while there is still some talent remaining for a new coach. If they let Weis hang on, the recruiting classes are only going to get worse and the hope for a turn around more distant.

Navy has been one of or the best rushing teams in ALL of college football in the last 4 yrs..The way ND beat wash. after they beat USC?I agree the red zone play calling was a joke, the O line was awful and once again our defense defended absolutely nothing. Finally break the top 20 and we show up with some s*#t like this, pathetic.

i thought i was sick to my stomach and then i went to the live postgame q and a with weiss and i puked listening to his babbling…the reporters ask the real tough questions of him…like how is rudolf doing? or the defense made some nice stops in the last few series, what adjustments did you make? im starting to think that nd will not allow anyone to ask the tough ?????’s the one question that was asked that could be construed as “rocking the boat” was where does this team go now? weiss answered, “we will prepare the same way as every other game ive prepared for, i NEVER EVER CHANGE”. that is telling, since he’s never won a “needed game”. if he wont change, then the university MUST!!!!….FIRE CHARLIE WEISS NOW!!!!!!

I hope everyone enjoyed watching Clausen in a gold helmet because with about 99% certainty he will be headed to the NFL. Why would anyone want to stay and play for this pathetic excuse of a team and risk injury. Weis will be fired because ND will lose at Pitt and Stanford. Another 7-5 season. As i said before, ND needs to scrape up some cash and make Urban and offer he can’t refuse.

This Weis’ fault plain and simple. Horrible red zone play calling. When you outweigh a team by so much why do you run outside? When you outweigh a team by so much how do you let your qb get sacked twice in critical times? Horrible OL, horrible defense, and horrible play calling. I just hope ND stashed away some NBC money to throw at Urban. ND will never get past mediocre with Weis.

Is it all Charlie Weis, I’m not a Weis advocate but is it personnel to some extent? I mean are expectations to high at ND? Would Alabama, SC, Florida, Texas struggle to stop Navy? Ultimately are those schools admitting student-athletes that cannot overcome ND’s admission threshold? I don’t see the athletes on the field that were there when I attended ND? Where are the Stonebreaker’s, the Lyght’s, the Zorich’s, the Smagala’s? In terms of running backs, where are the Brooks’ (both), the Watters, the Bettis’, the gamebreakers like Rocket or Tim Brown? When I watch us, I lack confidence in Weis and just don’t think we field the big-time talent to compete with the aforementioned schools much less overcome a group of courageous overachiever’s like Navy.

Stop complaining about the refs. Navy out played the Irish all game. The only person to blame is Charlie Weis. He is a horrible play caller and doesn’t mentally prepare his team. The team played extremely sloppy and with no sense of urgency. Charlie needs to be fired asap.

What’s so upsetting is having this offense be able to move all over the field and NOT score in the RED ZONE? How bad are we that we can’t get TDs? its haunted us all year long. Settling for field goals, getting stopped on 4th down, or turning it over. 3 Turonvers and 2 missed field goals today? That is awful play calling and horrbile execution!
