NY Daily News reports that Weis is fired

Nov 30, 2009, 2:27 PM EST

Citing a “source close to the program,” the New York Daily News reports that Charlie Weis is officially out as Notre Dame football coach.

I’m sure there will be more that soon follows, but this is the first legit media outlet to report Weis’ firing as official.

More to come…

This season has been akin to having a sick relative. You know the end is coming but when it finally does come, there are a host of mixed emotions. Thankfully, as in the case of that sick relative, a time comes when the healing must begin. Now, Mr. Swarbrick work your magic and bring in a motivator.

    Keith,
Thanks for the great coverage you provided during the season with the team and CW’s situation. Unlike a lot of Irish fans, I hate to see Charlie go but then I hated to see Lou go too. I know that a lot is being written and speculated on who will be the replacement and appears from what I am reading that Bob Stoops is the front runner. I am not sure that I am sold on Stoops coming to ND. I know it won’t happen but I was hoping that if CW had to go that Jon Gruden would be the choice. Who do you see as the front runner and why?

Well said, Art. Here’s hoping Swarbrick gets it right.
