I just got back from the Big Island and can’t wait to go again next year. But this time I think I’ll avoid the poor sections of Hawaii.

Under the current BCS environment, the only bowl that has meaning beyond entertainment and pure $$$ generation value is the Championship Bowl.
As long as Notre Dame has a base of fans (and detractors) that drive up the TV ratings and financial impact to the bowl organizers, the Irish will be an attractive invitee.
If you don’t like it, find a way to make your team more financially attractive within the current bowl system and/or don’t watch the games.
Welcome to the big business side of college football; and stop your whining.
That being said, I would endorse a playoff system utilizing earlier broadcasted bowls to make them more meaningful, still financially attractive, and more equitable in their team selection criteria. There would still be a surplus of bowls to be used for pure entertainment value.

By the way, Jan…. Only you, Keith Arnold, and Brent Musburger are still peddling the “sucker punch” story. (hat tip to Kejji for commenting on the BM aspect) Everyone else knows that Clausen got punched in the eye after he shoved a guy in the throat.
Of course, moms, even Team Moms, always want to see the best in their misbehaving youngsters.

Robert T. Gilleran isn’t going to sucker punch me or anyone else. You, being the robertg cheerleader that you are, must know that he is now devoting his full efforts to bringing those RICO cases to conclusion. He’s going to have his hands full, since he cannot do the legal work himself and instead must find associates who are simultaneously skilled enough to do the work yet lazy enough not to have read his bar record.

It will be interesting to see if the players and ND Administration opt for a bowl game for the pure enjoyment of playing together for one last time. It might be “fun” for a change.
In which case, the venue in D.C. could be the most attractive for the fans to use for a mini vacation during a relatively slow time of year in between Christmas and New Years.
As part of the halftime show, perhaps we can convince Stephen of Troy and robertg to reinact the now famous bar incident with robertg delivering the “sucker punch” that was heard around the world.

I’m torn.
On the one hand, I think it would be a sad spectacle to see the once-proud Fighting Irish stoop to playing in a meaningless bowl game against….whoever from the MAC/WAC or coachless Marshall.
But on the other hand, it would be funny to hear the announcers say “Little Caesar’s Pizza Bowl” thirty times. The ND fans in attendance could chant “We…Are…HUN-GRY!” instead of what they usually chant.
