Very interesting and well writen. This whole mass shuffling and accelleration in salaries feels like all the other “bubbles” we have had in the recent past. The question is when will it end and how. will the NCAA have to build guidelines for honoring contracts? Will the schools or the governing bodies and maybe the state legislatures step into the salary fray? I think the next few years are going to be very interesting and may see some profound and fundamental changes to college football.

Not to be nit picking, the article was written by JAY Paterno…a long time QB coach at PSU – and I believe a relative of Joe. I imagine that his sentiments are shared by Joe. I read the entire referenced article – well done and well presented.

I couldn’t agree with you more. The days of JoPa and Bobby
Bowden are gone and as college fans we are the worse for it. Tennessee paid good money for a future of the team not a lousy season marked with NCAA violations and “hostess” visits.. Can you imagine that happening under Jo Pa’s watch?
USC has sold itself to to a cheap shoddy snake oil salesman and will pay the price for it.
It’s the sign of the times when every thing is for sale, including one’s honor. Good luck Kiffin for when you ride the tide you reap the whirlwind.

I totally agree that I do not begrudge anyone earning what the market dictates. But, I gotta to agree with Joe Pa’s assessment of the situation as well and when you look at in that light. Basically, Tennessee paid $1,000,000+ for each of its 7 wins this year.
