Maybe Seantrell didn’t qualify academically. The Times article also notes that he hasn’t been academically qualified.

1. the ban on texting was voted on by the college football coaches association as a direct retaliation against charlie and his staff for bringing the nation’s no 1 recruiting class to notre dame during the 2008 recruiting cycle, along with other restrictions on telephone calls and visits by head coaches to high schools.
2. obviously, these rules are illegal and we will eliminate all of them before we bring charlie and his staff back to notre dame well before the 2012 season.
3. for obvious reasons, the other football coaches have no fear at all of kelly and his staff in the recruiting wars and never will, although they all remain terrified of charlie and his staff coming back to notre dame and of notre dame playing college football with honest officials, rules that are actually enforced, and fair and honest rankings and bcs systems.
4. it is fortunate that seantrel and his family and seantrel’s friends already at notre dame actually read and checked out the links that we posted at notre dame central about the ncaa and other problems coming down on usc’s crooked football program and athletic department.
5. but for reslife subjecting one of seantrel’s best friends michael floyd to some ridiculous inquisition era punishment and charlie and his staff no longer being at notre dame for the 2011 season, notre dame would be seriously in play for seantrel.

I read that article as well and it doesn’t make a lot of sense. Does that mean you can’t call the kid either? How do you recruit a player if you can’t contact them?
By the time they sign a letter of intent I would think the recruiting phase is done.
Do they have a rule that applies to recruiting a 13 year old in Jr. High? Next Kiffen will be sitting in maternity wards waiting to sign um’ up.

According to an ESPN article Tex Tech self reported text messaging infractions that break NCAA rules. The article stated that it was not permissable to send a text to a recruit until he signs a letter of intent. Is this true? No texts at all?

I am glad to learn that Kelly passed on Henderson. He is destined to be a USC/Miami type player; more interested in studying bikini than business. ND should develop 2-3 players each year from poor academic school systems who want to get a quality education AND play D1 football for 4 years.
