Jimmy Clausen plays Avatar for ESPN mag

Apr 7, 2010, 7:30 AM EST

Our good buddies at PFT pointed out the new cover of ESPN the Magazine, and Jimmy Clausen — and his avatar — grace the front and back cover.

ESPN’s NFL Draft preview edition features the former Notre Dame quarterback on both the front and back cover of its upcoming issue. Clausen, the real quarterback, is featured on the front, while his Avatar — a blue faced member of the Navi tribe — is featured on the back, a clever cross-promotional piece for a network known to brand just about anything possible.

It’s an interesting choice for the cover, especially with ESPN’s favorite draft analyst Todd McShay not exactly painting complimentary pictures of Clausen as a top-flight prospect.

For a look at Jimmy as a blue man, check it out here.

Man…..I’m die hard ND, and a die hard jimmy fan…..but seriously…..I think this was something made up by Todd McGay and Ashton Kutcher to “Punk” jimmy, he looks like a damn fool, and just before the draft when you’re trying to convince teams that the rumors are false and that you are the real deal, you do a stupid photo shoot like that???? Come’on man….
(Tebow….for sure, i could see doing it. But there is a reason you don’t see Bradford, or Suh or any other top picks on this ridiculous cover)
