I love the Irish, but I do have one question. If the team is no better than this next year and the year after that (now, this is if), will we still make the whole “new system, new quarterback” excuse? When can we as fans stop making excuses?

  2. FightinMad35 - Sep 25, 2010 at 7:05 PM

No excuse from me. I saw this team lose 2 games they could have won and this week Stanford is just better. Imagine that, Stanford football is better than ND. This is looking like 2008 all over again. New coach, new offense, new defense, SAME RESULT..I can’t even say same result. This team looks worse. Last year we were in every game, EVERY GAME, down to the end. This team took a step back and I’m sure lost alotta mojo after the Michigan State loss. Has the nose guard or either defensive lineman made any tackle today? I believe in giving a coach time and letting him recruit his own guys and all but the losing RIGHT NOW stinks..

I’ve actually come down to the reality of the bulls-eye that is imprinted onto our backs. It has been my 24th year of watching these games and it has never been more evident than these recent years of the horrendous calls being made! It was a great game that Stanford played and they deserved to win, as a UND nation we must use this game as a reminder that 3 or 4 years ago this was Stanford crying into their pillows and we where still thinking we where relevant! We have the WILL we will find the WAY!!!! GO IRISH!!!

Memo to anybody interested: Until ND can stop the run and run the football themselves they will never win consistently again. The Jim Harbaugh football team is exactly the team I wish ND had, a tough physical football team that runs the football at will against you, plays very tough defense, and wears you down throughout the game. It really is scary to think what Jim Harbaugh could do with the talent level at ND. I promise you ND will never win a national title with this offense unless they can run the football at will like the good teams do (did anybody watch Alabama play?). Don’t get me wrong I like coach Kelly but I have a gut feeling watching this team that he will fail just like the last 3 coaches did at ND because his offensive philosophy.

What a bunch of whiners. The announcers are predjudiced. The officials are making bad calls. Poor Notre Dame gets jobbed again. Just grow up and accept that ND is hopelessly mediocre. But cheer up! The patsies that ND gets to play for the next few weeks may bring ND a win or two.

“It really is scary to think what Jim Harbaugh could do with the talent level at ND” Perhaps..as I’m a Bears fan however, I also live in THIS town and know that the mean average high temp is not 70degrees and low is 50degrees as it is in Palo Alto. So, unlike the glories of the past and the stirring of the echos and all that crap….real people don’t want to play here. Some do, yes, but not enough to make a difference anymore as there are now other TV contracts that show off their talent. ND is just another girl in another pretty dress…that’s all.

Ok, Irish fans (if that’s what you want to call yourselves). Shoot yourselves in the head, since ND is not in the hunt for a national championship again (was that really expected for this year’s team>?).
If any of you would pay attention to BK since the start of fall practice, it’s a process. Not even half way through this season, and some of you are worried about the process 3 years from now. Are you nuts?!?!?!? Get a dose of reality, then shut up!

  9. Roger '75 - Sep 25, 2010 at 8:11 PM

WOW…..WOW…..Please stop blaming the officals, the announcers, the O-Line…………….WOW the blame belongs directly at the feet of Jack Swarbrick and Brian Kelly. Notre Dame Student athletes
are not motivated by a screaming, whining, foul mouth coach. It’s bad enough we all have to watch team team get whipped, listen to WOW and then have the final humiliation of watching the coach scream at KIDS. No one should wonder why Dayne Crist has absoulutly no confidence.1-3, if he keeps beating them down every week win or lose get ready for 6-6.WOW that’s an improvment. Brain Kelly has been outcoached every game but one, WOW who the hell screams at him. Join a conference, be competitive WOW just stop this weekly
torture of everything the University stands for. Swarbrick the clock is ticking, he is your boy, paying him all that money. I will be happy to pay your fare out of town and take that screaming idiot with you.WOW WOW WOW

  10. JP - Sep 25, 2010 at 8:30 PM

ahahaha wow that’s so tragic. Everybody is against the Irish. :'(. Oh wait, maybe because Notre Dame sucks! Don’t blame the media! They are the only ones other than the fans who continues to think this is a good team. Notre Dame got outclassed by a superior Stanford team.

  11. orrsra - Sep 25, 2010 at 8:58 PM

I have to agree. I got tired of his bragging about Stanford and turned the sound off. However, I still want to say I have watched/listened to ND since 1950 a student at Holy Cross and as I said last week Coach Kelly reminds me of J.Faust more every week all talk and smiles for the camera. Coach you are not in Kansas anymore, wake up and get a little fire. This is three games that they have been out coached and out played, god help us. This team is buying into losing and that is not ND of old. QB Crist is not showing me anything. He seems to be gun shy, in a daze and has no fire in his belly. The Defense needs third down & 7 practice. They look better, but not if they have to stay on the field forever. The game seemed to be in slow motion, what ever happened to Coach’s offense. At this rate they will be 3 & 9 at the end of the season. They are a tad better, than the best HS football team in America. I pray BC does not destroy them. Allen & T are the only bright spots.

  12. ND Fans Are Douches - Sep 25, 2010 at 9:57 PM

    1-3
Now that is one heck of a way to start a deason. ND is overrated every year and continues to be. Heck, they have to schedule powerhouses like Army to get any semblance of a victory. Why don’t you guys try scheduling an SEC team every so often and see how that works out for you. Oh that’s right, you’ll get your asses kicked and then cry to your moms about how the other team was a bunch of thugs. ND sucks plain and simple, get used to it.

  13. Reality Time - Sep 25, 2010 at 10:58 PM

Does the rest of the nation have to watch this poor excuse for a team every weekend.

  14. Dayton - Sep 25, 2010 at 11:35 PM

And yet…you are still on a Notre Dame blog. I have said this every week. Douchebags like you continue to come onto Notre Dame blogs just to insult Notre Dame and everything it stands for. I don’t know who you are or which team you support. The thing is, your goal is to insult a fine university with a great history of athletic performance, whether it be football, lacrosse, or even women’s field hockey. The fact is, everyone on here who remains faithful to Fighting Irish sports is a better person than you. It’s not because we think we are better than you physically, intellectually, interculturally, or whatever. It’s because we don’t go onto your blog and spout out incoherent, hate-mongering rubbish for no reason at all. And the fact that you brought up our mothers really shows just how nice of a person you really are. Now, crawl back underneath whatever rock you crawled out from and leave us alone. Just remember, karma is bitch. And it will come back to haunt your soulless ass in a fury.

  15. remzak - Sep 26, 2010 at 9:34 AM

HEY…..Ted Penn Long-time Notre Dame fan, from New Mexico.
Pal this is what people usually do when their team looses so many games. Chalk it up as there’s always next year.

  16. Dayton clueless - Sep 26, 2010 at 1:45 PM

Dayton…bet you drank Obama’s Kool-Aid too.Face it ND sucks and to have MSM shove the Irish down everyones throat kinda reminds most of Obamacare. You are the douche here loser.

  17. papadec1 - Sep 26, 2010 at 5:08 PM

I can’t help but wonder what all the detractors (& ND fans)will have to say, IF the Irish end up going 8-4 or 9-3 with a big win over usc, and then win a bowl game, this season? YES. I am disappointed at the 1-3 start – and maybe they won’t win 8 or 9 games. BUT, bashing the players & coaching (past or present)doesn’t achieve anything. If being in a conference is “the only way to go”, why is BYU going independent?

  18. Joseph Martorano - Sep 27, 2010 at 5:51 PM

I agree, how about 5 or 6 yrs. ago in ND’s loss to USC when Reggie Bush was pushed from behind over the goal line for the winning TD. With that said, ND changes FB coaches like most people change underwear, Kelly needs time to recruit, as it may take 3 yrs to turn this failing program. ND is approaching a crossroad and have to be honest with themselves about ND football…it may be about the money more than playing division I. They need to commit or step aside.
