Hey Keith great stuff as usual, I think this is the year we get off the hump just like the TV show “8 is enough” We havent really sniffed a victory since the bush push game, last year wasnt quite as close as the final score indicated. Anywhoo I like Tommy Rees’ poise, I like Mike Floyd’s first game against USC, and I think we outrush the Trojans tonight. Our D is finally the equivalent to USC’s and we expose their shaky secondary. Mike Floyd needs to have a above average night, and Cierre Wood needs to show USC why ND recruited him as a RB and not a safety. Moreover if you run into some frail, pale, guy named Lenny from Canada rack em for me.

You’re right Mark but Anchorman starred Will Ferrell who is a self-professed lover of all things USC, as is Snoop. In fact, each of them have been on the sideline during prior SC practices. It is my only knock against him…..maybe he will see the light, he did appear on Conan as a leprechaun. Take a look here:

Anchorman was San Diego, not LA, so I’m okay with the reference….anyway, if Will Ferrel tried to say, “Stay classy, Southern Ca…..” He’d explode, I couldn’t type it for fear of blowing my MacBook up.

Probably not a good week for an Anchorman reference, right? Either way, point taken. As for Haden, I thought about that, but he’s never really had any time with Kelly and his staff. If it was Weis, maybe it’d be an advantage, but he’s got no advanced intel other than knowing some personnel.

Oh, I almost forgot……do you think that the presence of Pat Haden as SC’s AD gives the Trojans any advantage? One could argue that Haden has been a front row observer of the Irish for many years now and as a sportscaster with NBC, he probably had unfettered access to the players, coaches, inner workings of the program. Now that he has returned to the mother ship, will he use what he has learned against the good people of this planet? I wonder.

Keith, I appreciate your effusive praise for Ruffer. I agree he is an elite kicker and should win the Groza award. However, your comment that he is “kind of a big deal,” makes me think of Anchorman which makes me think of Will Ferrell which makes me think of USC which makes me throw up turkey and cranberry sauce in my mouth. Why not just use a Snoop Dogg reference or something? Otherwise, I enjoyed the article. The Irish have more than a fighting chance to take this game and SC fans will be hardpressed to argue that we only won because their program was down this year. We too are in a transitional year and have had a slew of injuries to key starters. This game is ripe for the picking. GO IRISH, BEAT SCum!!!!!
