Golson missed 8 games this year with injuries. Has played great in 4 playoff games going Sat. to third straight championship final.

Throws the ball as well as you will see. Pass first, but a quick scramble if need be, hard to catch, and can run. Has been playing in the spread offense since grade school. He started at Myrtle Beach High as a freshman beating out the great senior Drew Ellis, now at Princeton. Many were angry when the coach decided on the 14 year old but were quickly convinced when we saw him play. He threw 35 TDs. As a soph he led the Seahawks to the State Championship and threw 44 TDs. Back again to championship game ( a loss) as a Junior with 47 TDs and we are going to see them play for the third year in a row for the championship Saturday against South Pointe and the number 1 recruit in the nation Jadavon Clowney. Golson is a great all round kid. Still growing, maybe 6’1″ 190# by next year. With the crowd at QB in South Bend now he probably should red shirt and try his hand at basketball. As well as Rees has played I can’t see him starting next year over Crist, Hendrix and now Golson. With 5 scholarship QB’s (Crist, Rees, Hendrix, Massa, Golson) next year I would have to expect at least 1 position switch and or 1 transfer. You’ve got to think it’s going to be hard to keep someone like Golson off the field especially if he enrolls early. At the same time it makes sense to save a year of eligibility while he learns the system and the depth chart remains awfully crowded. Still though, this position is now easily the deepest on the team after being dreadfully thin this season. You’ve got to hand it to Coach Kelly and Coach Elston for landing this kid. Can’t wait to see him on the football field and basketball court.

When I heard that, I thought that if the kid wants a school in the snowy and cold mid-West with an excellent academic rep, at least pick the one with the better football team. GO IRISH!
