This is very similar to the pathetic way that ND handled the Tyrone firing. They thought they had their man (Urban), but he bolted for Florida. They settled with Charlie, who was also a "ND-Man", and we all know how well that worked out.

Great job as always KA...Gotta say one thing though, this is just me (and a few Fat Tires) talking, but it was no less satisfying to beat up on fUSC this year while they're in shambles, and it will be no less satisfying to beat up (hopefully) on scUM for the next few years while their program is in turmoil. fUSC and scUM have been gleefully kicking our ass for the last few years, so to get a little payback while they clean up their houses is just fine with me.

This is one of the best articles I've read from ol' KA (and one of the most scorching!) in a while. I really feel sorry for whomever it is that's picked to be the fall guy for the next three years of mediocrity in Ann Arbor.

I have to admit conflicting feelings about this. First, there's the obvious Schadenfreude of watching our most hated rival (at least for me, anyway) shoot itself in the foot this way. It is poetic justice that USC and Michigan are declining just as ND's star is finally ascending.

Second, there's a grudging recognition that this isn't really good for us; wins over bitter rivals are important, but much less so when they're self-destructing. We're much more likely to beat up on Michigan over the next few years now while the program rebuilds, but it will mean less.

Third, there's a bit of relief. In Dick Rod's three seasons, he improved from 3-9, to 5-7, and finally 7-6; he had found his Pat White in Denard Robinson, and he was just starting to get his own players into his system. Assuming he would have fired Greg Robinson and hired a more competent Defensive Coordinator, Michigan could have been a legitimate threat in the coming years.

Instead, Brandon pulls the trigger and finds himself left with without an acceptable replacement. Calling Brady Hoke? I'll be the last one to dump on a prospective coach for "lacking experience at the highest level of college football" after watching Kelly's first season, but it'll be a tall task. An offensive system change, even a most one, will probably see Denard Robinson and lots of their offensive players transfer to other schools, resulting in another 3-4 transition period while Dick Rod's recruits get phased out.

On balance, I'm going with my first reaction: this couldn't be happening to a more deserving school. Muck Fichigan!

Keith, right on in your assessment of this mess. Brandon's waiting was bewildering. Some have said it was to wait for Harbaugh's season to be over. Well that's certainly putting all your eggs in one basket. Those eggs are now broken on Brandon's face. What a mess. I would be furious if I were a Michigan fan(the thought of that makes my skin crawl). Good Luck Skunkbears.
