Field position, ah yes, THE mitigating factor in every football game ever played, at any level.

Watching that game last November, Thanksgiving weekend, at night, knowing the streak lived, feeling the pressure just as a fan, it is hard to comprehend how those players felt.

Watching the game though, and the fact USC was continually put in decent field position, it was strangely exhilarating because of the demeanor displayed by the defensive players for Notre Dame. There seemed to be a difference in their body language, one of "no matter what I will not leave this place without expending all I have".

Which encouraged me, time after time as USC battered at them, trying to win the game. When Ronald Johnson dropped the wide open pass it was poetic justice, because so many times such heroic plays go against Notre Dame.

I digress, regardless the Field Position differential, the Irish victory proved one thing (something that is a recurring theme I don't doubt) that no matter where he goes Lane Kiffin has no idea what he is doing, where he is, or what is going on. He is a Train Wreck waiting to happen and his organizational skills are doubtful at best. He completely wasted all those opportunities because he still thinks Pete Carroll is in charge OR he thinks he's in Oakland.
