With the schedule that’s being played I think it will be remarkable to win 9-10 games. Golson has the skills but still green as are other members of the team. If we get blown out a couple of times that will be very disappointing however if we hang close with a loss I look at that as growth; I hope that Golson is a three year starter and moreover I hope that Kelly’s magic that’s he’s demonstrated at his prior heat coaching positions begins to kick in. I don’t think his tenure at Cincinnati was a fluke and now the pieces of the puzzle are starting to fall into place in South Bend. Go Irish!!!

Nude, I ran across Golson’s video of his senior year on YouTube and I have to say that he was impressive. I’m willing to cross off the happy feet concern, as he did some very savy running to extend the play and complete passes in that video. Kool aid might be chilling but you still will have to taste to see how good it is…..

Well “dmacirish” … since my 1st comment had such a high success rate of “42 to 4″ (and counting) I assumed I had to create some fair competition and repost-it to gain some thumbs down (im all for equality) also “whiskey” and my ADD are frequently confused … also if you read the last few words you will notice “passing dows” vs “passing TD’s” as I made a correction/edit to satisfy such intense sports bloggers as yourself. In my attempt to cancel the first post, I unfortunately was a tad late in attempting to do so, hence the “needed to say it twice” post you created. Thank you for that.

“dicksman” Thank you for your repsonse as well. “Baller” is used in todays modern slang, although “ballah” also see > “balla” was a trending in the early 1990′s to early 2000′s …. when the hip-hop scene began to change, with skinny jeans, snap-backs and XXXXXL white tees where replaced with more form-fitting apparel the slang went back to “Baller” as the pronounciation to match the new idenity of hip-hop and the social dewllings of urban society.

“kiopta1″ thank you for your comment too, although I have to correct you a bit … “stuttering” is a form of verbal communication. Typing is non-verbal, although what I have come up with is this hypothesis … you probally read the comments out loud to drown out the dead silence in your pathetic room …. and while attempting to do so, you frequently stutter yourself, hence the comment. I don’t think anyone is viewing Golson as a “placeholder” for Keil or Zaire. Any good program has a pipeline of guys that can take the position and move the team forward. I don’t think you’d find a single Irish fan hoping Golson has a single good year in him. I’d love to see 3 great years of production from him and have that give way to the winner of the competition between Zaire and Keil and whoever we pick up in the next cycle.

Who exactly, back in the day, thought TR was “The Guy”. I was okay with a few mistakes, a few weak throws, check downs and all; but once I realized that it was his ceiling… I still had hopes for Crist to come back from injury and be the guy in 2011, but that’s another dead horse we don’t need to beat anymore.

Not much of a surprise here. Really no choice. This added to the cb situation doesn’t boad well for this years season at all. Could be looking down the barrel of a 6 – 6 season very possible with ND schedule and with an unproven QB and a very shaky cb situation. Hope i am wrong but playing Navy will not give us much of a view into the future games. Navy could snake bite us right of the bat with some trick passing plays that catch our db sneaking up to help for run support. If Navy gets a couple over the top long passes for TD we could be in trouble. Good luck Irish

Well, Charlie wasn’t quite lighting it up in recruiting before getting canned. Also, when he got canned and Kelly moved in, there was hardly any time for recruiting that year. If you lose 2 recruiting classes and add some injuries here and there; expect the unexpected.

It’s nice to have the decision made. Golson will bring some needed spark to the offense. Let’s hope he can control the turnovers, too. That is all important. I know that he will drive us down the field time and again — but we can’t drive down the field and put it on the ground before getting it into the end zone.

Tommy is from the North Suburbs; I’m from the North Suburbs.
When he first appeared on the scene I was gung ho and thought it would be great for ND to have a great ND QB from Chicago.

It didn’t take long for most people, myself included to see he didn’t have it.
I NEVER bought in to his hype.
When they beat Utah, they did it largely on the ground.
When they beat Army, they beat ARMY for God sake.
When they beat USC, they did so in spite of his 11 interceptions.

Will I toss Golson under the bus? I doubt it.
At a minimum, this guy at least has the physical tools to play the position.

Such a fine line. The QB can’t single handedly win a game, but he can single handedly LOSE a game. (Nude?) So let’s just hope that first half goes well and BK has learned from previous decisions. I think the defense will maul Navy.

I have a feeling that we will hear/see Aaron in the news for many years and in all kinds of ways. He’s an amazingly talented athlete, but one who is psychologically erratic and intense. I hope that his dark side doesn’t overwhelm the good, but I fear it will erupt from time to time and we will certainly hear about it when it does.
