SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The skies opened up around 2 p.m., adding another wrinkle to a game filled with interesting subplots. While the hardest rain seems to be behind us, the Irish and the Cardinal will not just battle each other, they’ll battle the elements.

As usual, a Notre Dame home game will give you plenty of options to follow the action. Joined by my friends at The Observer, we’ll be hosting a live blog here. If you’re unable to catch the game on television, you can find it at the NBC Sports Live Extra app, or by clicking this link here. You’ll have an HD feed, DVR capabilities, and the opportunity to chat with me through the video player. (One of those things isn’t quite as great as the other two.)

So buckle up and get ready to chat. With the weather being what it is, expect a slug fest. The team that can survive the slop with the least amount of mistakes should walk away victorious.

    Hot reads!!!
Stanford is blitzing nearly every pass, yet Golson looks downfield waiting for the routes to develop before scrambling and throwing it away.

Why can’t we take advantage of these one-on-one situations with some slants and fades. Please.

      “Tommy’s our closer”.

      Go Irish!

  2. jomilly - Oct 13, 2012 at 5:30 PM

Please Put Tommy in. Golson is not ready

    • cameronemclaughlin - Oct 13, 2012 at 5:56 PM

      Nice run there Golson.

Except that it culminated in your 4th fumble.

If our running game is working, we just need a QB to manage the game and throw a few accurate passes.

  3. tony34343434 - Oct 13, 2012 at 5:43 PM

jomilly so right, get Rees in right now, Golson looks lost.

  4. c4evr - Oct 13, 2012 at 5:47 PM

Halfway thru 3rd quarter… only disappointment so far is no Cam and no Rees.

  5. dickasman - Oct 13, 2012 at 5:48 PM

Who’s the cutey standing next to bk in pink hat and wet hair? Too bad she’s not wearin white t shirt, darn!

  6. dickasman - Oct 13, 2012 at 5:53 PM

Gys we need to just keep handing the ball off to Atkinson and wood and wear them down. Here’s Martin again w his horsesht play calling.

  7. jomilly - Oct 13, 2012 at 5:56 PM

My patients is up for Golson, after that fumble. Your scrambling ability isnt worth you. Put Rees in, and next year, lets get Gunner under center and be done with these qb issues.

    • dickasman - Oct 13, 2012 at 6:09 PM

I am getting fed up with his inability to read easy defenses and making stupid mistakes I.e. fumbles. Wen you gonna learn to put the ball away kid? Is he still taking remedial classes at nd?

  8. dickasman - Oct 13, 2012 at 5:56 PM

Golson fumbled, golson sucks, it’s rees’s pieces time, fock this kid!

  9. jomilly - Oct 13, 2012 at 6:08 PM

theres an idea throw it to the all american. Who’d of thought!!

    • dickasman - Oct 13, 2012 at 6:11 PM

Yeah right? Especially when he’s one on one. He missed a lot of reads today. He’s got problem above the shoulders I believe. He’ll throw Hendrix in there

  10. brothertrip - Oct 13, 2012 at 6:48 PM

When is the coaching staff gonna stop trying to get more out of Riddck when it isn’t there. They need to use Wood and Atkinson to run the ball more efficiently

    • simmel65 - Oct 13, 2012 at 7:36 PM

Umm, did you see that catch at the end? That’s why. They trust him and he plays hard every play…

      • brothertrip - Oct 13, 2012 at 11:48 PM

It was an impressive catch, but I dont have a complaint about his play in the passing game, my issue is the way he runs the ball. He does get the occasional good chunk of yards but there is way to many 1-2 yards 1st guy who touches him takes him down.

  11. elwaysmilehighdenver - Oct 13, 2012 at 7:19 PM

Wow! Stanford got screwed! Why even have replay if you can’t get it right? Football clearly broke the goal line!

    • tony34343434 - Oct 13, 2012 at 8:03 PM

They stopped his forward progress, the play should not have been reviewed, you cant keep going at it, if an ND player came and and hi him again they would have called late hit. He was stopped more than once, tough loss get over it, and glad to see the Broncos are losing too!

    • irishdrg1 - Oct 13, 2012 at 8:25 PM

Still crying like Elway always does

  12. ndgoldandblue - Oct 13, 2012 at 7:21 PM

Elbow was down before the ball went across the goal line. No way Stanford can claim that they got jobbed.

  13. elwaysmilehighdenver - Oct 13, 2012 at 7:24 PM

Ndgoldandblew must be blind like the officials. Elbow wasn’t down. He was on top of the pile! I stand by my first post!

    • simmel65 - Oct 13, 2012 at 7:34 PM

Your’e an idiot… Forward progress was stopped. He was down at the one. Shouldn’t have even been reviewed,

      • irishdrg1 - Oct 13, 2012 at 8:26 PM

Whistle blew a long time ago

  14. ndgiants11 - Oct 13, 2012 at 7:26 PM

Brian Kelly has improved ND top to bottom. Strength & conditioning, training table, physical and mental toughness, stout defense, better gameday atmosphere. Year 3 is always the big sign of how a head coach will do at Notre Dame. So far, Kelly is acing it. EASY top five ranking tomorrow – it seems the computers are the only piece of the rankings that give ND credit for not scheduling chumps!

  15. kiopta1 - Oct 13, 2012 at 7:30 PM

Hard fought game. ND undefeated and amazing D. Stanford great luck to you the rest of the season.

  16. NotreDan - Oct 13, 2012 at 7:34 PM

mark may is a FUCK STICK. I mean… a hairy vulva. Wait, both

  17. c4evr - Oct 13, 2012 at 7:52 PM

Well, I said ND would surrender a touchdown this week, but I didn’t think it would be the offense.

  18. footballleprechaun - Oct 14, 2012 at 4:47 AM

Taylor down elbow down knees and body down on player who is flat on ground FORWARD PROGRESS STOPPED oh wait a minute he’s levitating in mid air twisting like a hortizontal Chubby Checker and extending ball into endzone Shouldnt even have been reviewed What really should have been reviewed was the non-call Stan jolds on the Irish about 22 times throughout the game lol Go Irish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ol Notre Dame Will Win Over ALL

  19. irishking - Oct 14, 2012 at 3:44 PM

I know that Golson did not play well yesterday and I was very frustrated that he was not given the hook at halftime. Unfortunately Kelly keeps believing in Golson and that is just the way things will continue.

My belief is that on-the-job training can be effective to help develop and grow a young quarterback. However it does have its limits. My take on Golson is that he doesn’t have sufficient smarts.
