Live blog — Notre Dame vs. Pittsburgh

Nov 3, 2012, 2:45 PM EDT

Manti Te'o, Stephon Tuitt

It’s a crisp football Saturday in South Bend. And while the temperature might be hovering in the 40s, the Irish offense is hoping to heat up against a Pitt defense thinned out by injuries. For Everett Golson, it’s a chance to build on a big performance against Oklahoma. On the defensive side of the ball, it’s a chance to get after quarterback Tino Sunseri, who’s protected by an offensive line that’s struggled at times under duress.

Notre Dame has a shot to get to 9-0 for the first time since 1993, with the opportunity to start a season with nine straight victories for the 16th time in school history. And as usual, we’ll be there for you in a variety of ways this afternoon.

For the live blog, see below. We’ll be joined by our friends at the Observer again and might try to add a special live blog guest as well. (Catch the excitement!) I’ll also be answering questions in NBC Sports’ video player, where the game will be streaming live in HD with DVR capabilities. You can also watch the game on your mobile device or tablet with the NBC Sports Live Extra app.

So buckle up for a fun afternoon of football, leading into a pretty terrific evening as well.

Absolutely LOVE seeing that Notre Dame vs. Pitt is preempted by University of South Dakota (1-7) vs. Youngstown State (4-4)

YUCK FOU KDLT television in Sioux Falls, SD

Keith…do you have a magic button that can fix this?

    • dickasman - Nov 3, 2012 at 7:24 PM

      Watch it online foo

  2. bernhtp - Nov 3, 2012 at 3:15 PM

    Goals for today:

    1. Continue developing the offense and put the game away early.
    2. Take out the first string and rest/protect them. Injuries to key players are one of our major risks to winning out at this point.
    3. Give lots of snaps to 2nd and 3rd team players to develop depth, especially at key positions.

I don’t know Bern. I think it’s just as important to put up style points this week. Might need to keep the starters in for a while, even if it’s a blowout (but we’re getting ahead of ourselves).

    • dickasman - Nov 3, 2012 at 5:22 PM

Bernski you at the game? C’mon man yell, scream, take your top off…get the crowd going, would ya? Zack Martin is right I blame lack of jumbotron!

  3. dickasman - Nov 3, 2012 at 4:45 PM

Hahahaha another fair catch whaddda ya know. Heisenberg I like where your heads at but our starters have problem scoring you know. I know we are notre dame and suppose to be bunch of virgins but we sorely need some male sluts out there. Just score baby just scoreeeeee!

  4. badgerbuck - Nov 3, 2012 at 4:57 PM

As I said all week notre dame looks flat again at home better wake up or it will be the first of three losses this year

    • dickasman - Nov 3, 2012 at 5:21 PM

I just don’t get why we play so shtty at home. Did they go out last night n OD on cookies n milk or what? They re playing like bunch of junkies, very flat n out of it. C’mon boys, get fired up!

I think they play better in prime time than 230 games.

  5. irishfan4ever - Nov 3, 2012 at 5:06 PM

The trap game is well underway sigh.

  6. irishfan4ever - Nov 3, 2012 at 5:15 PM

Tough first half,BK needs to light a fire in the guys.

    • dickasman - Nov 3, 2012 at 5:27 PM

If I was bk, I’d come out n call 10 straight running plays right down their throat, impose our will, send a message to our guys, hey you’re better than them by a wide margin. Wake our guys up, forget the echoes.

  7. dickasman - Nov 3, 2012 at 5:16 PM

Quite possibly the worst half of football I’ve seen in my entire life. Zero excitement. So many opportunities missed. Get it together boys.

  8. sdemp - Nov 3, 2012 at 6:01 PM

Give Reese enough chances and he will undoubtedly fock it up.

  9. kfiz14 - Nov 3, 2012 at 6:12 PM

They deserve to lose. Kelly should’ve never murdered that kid.

  10. joewilliesshnoz - Nov 3, 2012 at 6:33 PM

Notre Dame even have their own referees, go figure .

    • dickasman - Nov 3, 2012 at 7:26 PM

I don’t see nothing wrong. Money is greed, greed is good

  11. ihatemistate - Nov 3, 2012 at 6:35 PM

Yea right let’s take out the first string and rest them. They are resting, on the field. This one goes on Kelly, ND very unprepared. That’s why I typed in all caps last week to stay focused coming of such a big win. Oh well. Saw it coming.

  12. elwaysmilehighdenver - Nov 3, 2012 at 6:38 PM

Joke of a ghost call! Where was the interference? Go Pitt! Domers are overrated!

    • dickasman - Nov 3, 2012 at 7:27 PM

We maybe but not this year. Look at the record

  13. sinister23 - Nov 3, 2012 at 6:41 PM

Hate to tell ya, that wasn’t PASS INTERFERENCE !

    • heisenbyrg - Nov 3, 2012 at 6:53 PM

      Go the f*** home.

  14. megatronspartan - Nov 3, 2012 at 6:47 PM

    Game over!!

  15. sinister23 - Nov 3, 2012 at 6:47 PM

  16. boyshole25 - Nov 3, 2012 at 7:22 PM

    Joke call put Rudy in

  17. sdemp - Nov 3, 2012 at 7:29 PM

Pass interference call had no impact on the result. . . stop crying.

BK terrible game plan and game management.

    Go Irish!!!

  18. megatronspartan - Nov 3, 2012 at 7:45 PM

Up and down game… ND gets majority of the calls as all ways but Pit have not be able to finish them off…….. Just Like my team earlier.

  19. truefootballinsight - Nov 3, 2012 at 7:45 PM

No result? It created all the momentum that ND has. Also it was a critical down. Literally the refs gave it to ND

  20. elwaysmilehighdenver - Nov 3, 2012 at 7:50 PM

What an absolute joke. Pitt was robbed.
That PI call was the difference. Refs. handed Domers win.

    • dickasman - Nov 3, 2012 at 7:55 PM

We have been robbed plenty too believe me. If you have a problem, call your congressman, ban gambling! Otherwise, until next time america

  21. dickasman - Nov 3, 2012 at 7:53 PM

Holy crap we won today because we are Catholics and there is a god. Only reason we won, hope we learned our lesson. What a horsesht win

  22. megatronspartan - Nov 3, 2012 at 7:56 PM

Easy to see why! The Pope called in favor

  23. c4evr - Nov 3, 2012 at 8:02 PM

Ugly effing win… almost made my $200 SC ticket worthless. Not much for style points today, but got the goose egg still in the loss column, so we’re still in it. Go Tigers, Trojans getting spanked.

  24. badgerbuck - Nov 3, 2012 at 8:05 PM

This team is not good enough to play alabama, come on that would not even be close

  25. megatronspartan - Nov 3, 2012 at 8:10 PM

Bama is gonna roll all the teams they play this year….. pretty sure they could beat a couple pro teams. Bama is College footballs version of Kentucky Wildcats in College basketball.
