Live blog — Notre Dame vs. Pittsburgh

Nov 3, 2012, 2:45 PM EDT

Manti Te'o, Stephon Tuitt

It’s a crisp football Saturday in South Bend. And while the temperature might be hovering in the 40s, the Irish offense is hoping to heat up against a Pitt defense thinned out by injuries. For Everett Golson, it’s a chance to build on a big performance against Oklahoma. On the defensive side of the ball, it’s a chance to get after quarterback Tino Sunseri, who’s protected by an offensive line that’s struggled at times under duress.

Notre Dame has a shot to get to 9-0 for the first time since 1993, with the opportunity to start a season with nine straight victories for the 16th time in school history. And as usual, we’ll be there for you in a variety of ways this afternoon.

For the live blog, see below. We’ll be joined by our friends at the Observer again and might try to add a special live blog guest as well. (Catch the excitement!) I’ll also be answering questions in NBC Sports’ video player, where the game will be streaming live in HD with DVR capabilities. You can also watch the game on your mobile device or tablet with the NBC Sports Live Extra app.

So buckle up for a fun afternoon of football, leading into a pretty terrific evening as well.

Damn, a bunch of bitter guests on here…and very bad drunken spelling. Hey, they played like shit, but they held out and won…got it out of their system (luckily….I was drinking heavily).

I thought it would be closer than most thought, but not THAT close!

    Go Irish

It looked like both head coaches were doing the drinking, in this one .

Anybody that pays 200 dollars for a football game in this economy is just pain stupid no matter if you have the cash or not. Use your head

Heart attack game but still win. Haters are everywhere tonight.

It’s always good season when the haters can only come out after a close ND win to talk trash, and their argument is one shaky call. There were also several plays where the receivers were mugged with no call. But to the haters there was only one play.

Do you ND fans realize how stupid you sound with the “haters” bullshit? It’s not hating, it’s a FACT Pitt out played the Irish. But Irish pulled it off. Grow the hell up and get an ounce of humility! And never forget, you sit on the couch, not play on the field, there is no US. DAMN.

Uh, no, actually, that’s not a fact. Read the stats. The Irish outplayed Pitt (TOP, yards, plenty of other stats) and repeatedly failed to execute on the goal line until the 4th quarter.

And never forget, you sit on the couch, not play on the field, there is no US.

Have you ever been a fan of a sports team? Ever? Have you ever been a fan of a sports team whose college you went to? Are you new or something?
