@ndgold and 1notre….thanks for the kind words. I am in Monmouth Co. (home of Springsteen and Bonjovi) and we weren’t hit that bad at my place, a few trees down and no power for a week. Some folks close by have lost literally everything they own and we’ve been working with our church to get food, water, blankets, toothpaste, deodorant, etc to those in need. You never know what you have until it’s gone. My office is still without power and closed so it’s been great to have something to occupy the time. We are slowly coming back to normal and now waiting for a nor’easter to arrive tomorrow with 50 mph winds. That should be fun. What’s been great is the spirit of giving and togetherness that pervades this tragedy. Sure there are aholes who try to hoard gas and other necessities, but there are 10 times as many people offering food, their homes or something as simple as charging your cell phone for you that have renewed my faith in humanity. One example, they opened the local food store last week after the storm and they had no power so it was dark inside. One woman with her kids in tow put her purse down and it was either stolen (I’d hate to think that) or misplaced in the commotion. She was explaining what happened to the store mgr and several other customers all offered her money to buy her groceries. When she refused, everybody started giving twenties to her kids so the family could eat. She was well taken care of that day and that’s just one small example of the random acts of kindness I have seen over the last week and a half. Fortunately, nobody I know was killed or injured and the material stuff can all be replaced. We’ll get through this and someday it’ll just be a bad memory. There are an inordinate number of Irish fans here (lots of Irish Catholics) so maybe a perfect season can help us recover more quickly. Go Irish, beat Fredo!

Weis was just a pro-oriented coach, despite his ND roots…didn’t know how to relate.

This blog went off on a weird tangent at the beginning there. I don’t care what anybody says, really, but I hate it when it gets personal. And the anonymity thing does bring out a lot of brashness from people that probably don’t have it in person. I don’t have any kids looking over my shoulder, either.

On a lighter note…I’ve seen some funny references, now I realize that Tom Selleck is coaching against William Shatner this weekend. Hope it goes for the Captain.

What I see in Kelly as a recruiter, is 1rst obviously he seems to be getting a good share of those players unanimously considered top flight talent. That is great! But also the 3 and 4 stars, ranked between say 200 to 500, he is a great evaluator of which ones are the real hidden gems

For instance. Keivarie Russell ( 24th ranked rb). ; Chris Brown. (Wr. 87). Romeo Okwara. (DE 65). Elijah Shumate. ( not in top 150 in most services). All those as freshman making contributions.

From 2011. Springman, Farley, George Atkinson, McDaniel, N Martin, and Hounsell. All 3 stars

From 2010, Spond, Shembo, B Jackson, Rees, Schwenke. All 3 stars. Plus Collinsworth, who if not injured would likely have contributed

In that I am not counting the consensus top 100 like. Nix, TJ Jones, Lombard, Niklas, Tuitt, Williams, D Daniels, Golson ( some had him high some didn’t ), D Neal, Kiel S. Day,

Next year we will know, how well Kelly did with O Lineman. The future looks great !

On a side note I watch a lot of HS football in NJ. Having watched Don Bosco Prep play 3 top 25 teams from all over the country, the player that ND needs to close out this great class is Alquadin Muhammad, he could be the best player in this recruiting class! Keith please tell Shumate to get on trying to secure him, trust me we would enjoy watching him in Blue and Gold!

Te’o's HS highlights were full of him at running back running over kids. Man amongst boys sorts of stuff. Competition bulks up at the college level. But Nix as jumbo back? That would be fun.

How much better of a recruiter is Kelly than Weis? The proof is in the pudding! While Weis did give us one gem, T’eo, even in his first 2 years when the Irish were winning he wasn’t able to attract the type of talent that Kelly is getting now. The results that Kelly and the lads are now producing on the field is incomparable. I remember in 2007 a reporter asked Weis, what do you tell recruits? He said it’s easy, I point to us on the field and say, see, we need you and can use you right now (i.e. we were getting our butts kicked). This past weekend I don’t think Kelly had to say much to sell ND to any visiting recruits at all. An emotional comeback win in overtime and a 9-0 record speaks volumes!

Newsflash…Most schools start introducing computers and (hold on to your mutton chops) the use of the internet for research in elementary school. GET OUT!!!! No, no, it’s true.
There is nothing wrong with a 12yr old being on the internet and on a news site. The gentleman is doing the right thing by doing this with his son and I’m sure educating him on the potential dangers that do lurk. He’s not the “blowhard”. You are for jumping down his throat and calling him a bad parent. Sheltering your kids isn’t the right answer. That just keeps them running a DJ business out of your basement (which doubles as their apartment) when they are 40. But hey, those leaves will be raked.

I wonder if anyone is considering Anzalone as a running back? An awful lot of his highlights are about his running. Sending someone the size of Riddick into the line in goal line situations just hasn’t cut it (see Pitt). We have Mahone next year who should fill the role nicely, but wouldn’t having someone the size of Anzalone charging the goal line be kind of cool?

For eligibility go to Notre Dame official site. The depth chart they show has numbers next to the players name. If its a 4 they are done. Obviously 3 or less then they have eligibility left. I believe both Watt and Z Martin can play another year. Keith is free to correct me.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Redfield already expressed his commitment intent to Notre Dame and what we are now seeing is the period necessary for ND Admissions to do their due diligence. He may not be looking anywhere else and an announcement in the next week would not surprise me.

I’ve been posting on here for a couple of years now and I seem to recall Keith setting the standard as, and Keith correct me if I am wrong, but it was don’t post anything on here that you wouldn’t say to your mother. However, we don’t really know what Mrs. Asman has learned to tolerate over the years. By the way, I think some of dickasman’s posts are quite funny but don’t think this is the forum. As for sheltering kids from the Internet, it is becoming tougher and tougher to do, especially with the proliferation of porn sites. Oh how I long for the old days when you had to find a crumpled and weathered Playboy in the woods to have some access to “porn”. Actually, as kids, we tried to find them every Saturday morning, mostly for the articles

Point taken, and you’re right. I shouldn’t have jumped all over him. But here’s the thing. I’m going to come onto this blog. I don’t talk about drugs and sex. Nor do I throw out constant vulgarities as you stated. I was just a little off-put when I get on the blog this morning and a bunch of posters were “suggesting” to us that we should comment in a certain way. This is Keith’s blog, and he’s the only one that has the right to make such a suggestion. It’s up to him if this blog should be G-rated or not. That’s all I’m saying.

It’s kind of like smoking in a public place. If I’m smoking (which I don’t) in a legally designated area and someone comes up to me and tells me to put out my cigarette, I’m not going to. I will if a member of the proper authorities tells me to put it out, but only then. On this blog, Keith is the proper authority. He’s the man. Sorry for gettin’ crazy, smitty.
