DRUE TRANQUILL
Carrol (Fort Wayne, IN)
Measurables: 6-2, 210
Accolades: Indiana Top 50, first-team All-State 6A, Fort Wayne News-Sentinel Football Player of the Year, 3-Star
Impressive Offers: Purdue, Indiana, Penn State, Minnesota
Projected Position: Safety
Quick Take: Tranquill was a commit to Purdue until Notre Dame came calling. At first, he was being looked at as a convert to inside linebacker, but it appears he’ll stick at safety, a big body and athletic guy that will enter a competitive depth chart.
The perfect RKG both on and off the field, Tranquill is a program guy with leadership skills.
What he means to Irish: Tranquill is part of locking down Indiana, a recent surge after years of all but ignoring prospects from in-state. He’s a great all-around football player that will be competing with some elite athletes on defense.
We’ll see quickly if he’s that type of player or if he makes his mark more on special teams, but a great program recruit and another key piece from Fort Wayne.
Obligatory YouTube highlight clip: Here’s Tranquill’s UND.com video. Nicely done by Tranquill, who is wearing his trademark urban camo bandana.
