Quenton Nelson

QUENTON NELSON
Red Bank Catholic (Red Bank, NJ)

Measurables: 6-5, 302

Accolades: US Army All-American, Rivals 5-Star, second-team USA Today All-American, second-team MaxPreps All-American, USA Today All-New Jersey

Impressive Offers: Alabama, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, Stanford

Projected Position: Offensive Tackle

Quick Take: If Alex Bars gives you the athleticism and future projections, Nelson is a ready-made, nasty, mauling offensive tackle. One of the dominant players in San Antonio at the US Army All-American game, Nelson has the chance to be a special lineman, one of the cornerstone recruits of the class.

He’ll join Bars as an offensive tackle in this class, but could play anywhere along the line.

What he means to Irish: He’s a key recruit who’ll throw his hat in the ring almost immediately for playing time. Like Bars, we’ll have to see how he looks when he gets to campus and starts competing, but there’s every reason to believe that Nelson is a special talent.

Obligatory YouTube highlight clip: So far, Nelson wins the UND.com Signing Day videos with his intro. Well played, young man.

    This kids video is incredible.

Jeez, in the tape he’s twice as big as the guys he’s been playing in HS. What will he do against the big boys in D!, I wonder.

I would say that he’s a little too short at 6’5″ to play LT, but I guess that Martin kinda dispelled the myth that you have to be at least 6’6″. Anyways, anyone who’s highlight video is 12 minutes long is a beast, and if they happen to be a lineman, then you should be happy happy happy about signing them. Welcome to Notre Dame, Q!

How is being 6’5 to small to be a left tackle? As long as he has the long arms and good footwork 6’5 is a great height. There are plenty of starting left tackles in the NFL at 6’5.

Welcome aboard Q. I am an RBC alum and back when the nuns used to teach us there, I had more than one who would tell us every Friday in the fall to pray for an Irish victory on Saturday. Loved your video btw.
