Watch Notre Dame vs. Rice anywhere

Aug 30, 2014, 12:43 AM EDT

Consider this a public service announcement for all of those unable to get in front of a TV this afternoon. If you’re stuck at work or on the road over Labor Day weekend, we’ve got you covered to watch the game.

From your computer, you can tune in to the Notre Dame pregame show and WATCH THE GAME HERE. You’ll have an HD feed, bonus cameras, DVR functionality and even a place to chat with little old me.

From your tablet or mobile device, you can also use the always excellent NBC Sports Live Extra App. In addition to Notre Dame football games, you’ll get all sorts of sporting events, from the English Premiere League all the way to the PGA Tour Playoffs.

With the pregame show set to kickoff at 3:00 p.m. ET and kickoff ready at 3:42, it’s going to be an action-packed season opener for Notre Dame as they take on the Rice Owls.

Of the top ten nationwide high school football poll, FIVE are catholic schools!!! C’mom Notre Dame get these guys in here!

    • dudeacow - Aug 30, 2014 at 8:29 AM

It’s because private Catholic schools are some of the few schools allowed to recruit. Calling their players Catholic is like calling ND’s players Catholic. But it might help in familiarity.

Hott Keith!!! Don’t forget from your computer, you can also watch porno during commercials. Who da hell wants to watch commercials, so annoying.

I’m surprised Obama doesn’t mandate gay porno commercials during football games. C’mon Obama why stop at legalization of gay marriage? Where’s the equality? C’mon now.

    Thee end.

Keith, any idea if they’ve fixed the glitch from mid season last year that prevented people overseas from watching? They made you select your service provider which left those of us overseas from accessing the feed. Thanks, appreciate the link in advance!

    • bernhtp - Aug 30, 2014 at 10:35 AM

It’s not a glitch; it’s a policy not to provide service overseas by many video streaming services. I guess they feel they get no ad revenue from those viewers but incur the considerable bandwidth expense. I bet Keith has a contact to ask whether this is the case here.

Mr. Arnold, we ND fans are lucky to have you as “THE MAN” covering Notre Dame! Every time I click on this app on my iPad, you have added an article. The only thing I hate is…. I just found this app this summer! Now, I am quite sure, like every other job, especially when it relates to sports, you receive a lot of criticism. Please, next time a troll, or disgruntled ND fan, jumps on & bashes you, just think back to those of us that have praised your work. Lately I have seen lots of posters thanking you. We’ll deserved I say!

May God continue to Bless us with your contributions & most importantly, may God continue to Bless you in everything in your life! I hope you & your family have a wonderful & safe Labor Day!

Thank you Sir, you are the Creme of the Crop (my Dad said that for anything that was THE BEST)!

Is there a link to watch the game online? I know there have been posted on this page in the past.

  6. jaisn - Aug 30, 2014 at 5:21 AM

camimfajardo, please READ Keith’s article, he posted in all caps the link you are asking for.

    • dillonbigred - Aug 30, 2014 at 11:21 AM

But my question is, is there a link to watch the game online?

      • bernhtp - Aug 30, 2014 at 12:59 PM

I guess you never took Browser 101.

Right click (or two-finger click) the text “WATCH THE GAME HERE” and chose the “Copy link address” option to copy the URL into the clipboard. You can then paste it wherever you wish. Alternatively, you can click on the link and then copy the URL from the address bar.

Bern, I would presume that big red was being facetious. Huge taste.

  7. yaketyyacc - Aug 30, 2014 at 6:29 AM

Yes Keith, it sure is a privilege to be able to follow the Irish every week, any where, anytime. And to have a Coach especially for us, one Keith Arnold. Coach, we are ready, bring on the season!

    Happy football, Irish fans!…..FINALLY!!!!!!

I’ve been reading all off-season, but have stayed off the keyboard. I’ve read some interesting stuff though, to say the least.

Keith, thank you for all you do!…your stuff makes life without football bearable.

My quick take on the upcoming season(as if anyone cares):

I’ve gotta give the D a pass here early, maybe all year if the suspensions linger, but I do think there’s talent and they could be better than expected. I love that the staff seems to be trying to get the “football players” on the field. You can have the star rankings, bench-press numbers and 40 times, gimme the guys who make plays on the field. That’s what I think we have here with this D, hungry young ballers who wanna get after it.

Offensively we welcome back Goalsun(I think this could be fresh, can I get a ruling, anybody?)surrounded by a slew of potential playmakers. In my opinion, it’s put up or shut up time for Kelly with this offense. All the pieces are in place for this to be a fast-paced juggernaut of an offense. The only question is, how do we keep everyone happy? You go even faster, that’s how, the more plays you run, the more touches everyone gets. There’s an absolute embarrassment of riches on the OL, that’s what makes this thing go. Three more than capable RB’s in the backfield, 2 of which are potential superstars, possessing tons of untapped potential. This team is stocked at receiver with every skill-set and body-type you could ever want, how does anybody cover all these guys? I love the TE’s as well, I think Koyack plays his way into the top half of the draft, Smythe is next in line at TE U and I wanna call Luatua a beast, but I’m not sure that does him justice. Talk about a ferocious blocker and a load to bring down, that’s a “football player” personified! If this offense doesn’t light it up this year, I’m not sure they ever will under Kelly.

I can’t talk about expectations without mentioning Jaylon Smith. This kid is a special, special player. A once in a generation type athlete who should, on a defense searching for an identity, be a human highlight reel while making plays all over the field. And God created Linebacker! Does this kid pass the “eye-test” or what?

It didn’t turn out to be quite so brief after all…lol….but I’m stoked for the season, it should certainly be exciting with an explosive offense and a fast, hungry, young defense.

    Let the games begin!

    • johngaltisspeaking - Aug 30, 2014 at 11:31 AM

      6-6 Season I named it first !

  12. upthera44 - Aug 30, 2014 at 11:30 AM

haha galt. you’re an idiot but at least you’re consistent

  13. Tim's Neighbor - Aug 30, 2014 at 11:46 AM

Trying to confirm, but the app works with AppleTV, correct?

  14. jaisn - Aug 30, 2014 at 11:57 AM

bernhtp, I understand that, but that wasn’t the policy originally. I’d watched the games for a season and a half without that problem and suddenly things changed mid-season last year, thus my question.

There is a HUGE difference between an HD feed and a crappy, illicit stream from a random website that freezes and drops the feed every so often. Maybe one day media companies will realize people will pay for quality if given the choice, until then we take what we can get for free.

    • dickasman - Aug 30, 2014 at 12:54 PM

Obama gives foreigners everything for free. I dunno why Obama puppet ND football would be any different

    • dickasman - Aug 30, 2014 at 12:56 PM

First row sports. From laptop. Doesn’t work on Obama puppet Ipad

  15. irishdodger - Aug 30, 2014 at 12:45 PM

    is it viewable on ipad?

    • dickasman - Aug 30, 2014 at 12:55 PM
