Weekend primer: short and sweet

During the Brady Quinn/Charlie Weis era, the Irish were one of the best screen passing teams in the country.

Weis’ ability to design quick, high-percentage passes to a variety of weapons, whether it was Darius Walker, Jeff Samardzija, Rhema McKnight, Anthony Fasano, or John Carlson, made the screen pass an immediate offensive staple brought along from New England.

With Rich Rodriguez needing to cover up for a suspect secondary, defensive coordinator Greg Robinson will probably look to bring pressure, and there’s no better tonic for that then a little screen passing.

Here’s a video look at some of the plays the Irish used last weekend. As they say, a short game is where you make your money.

(Yeah, I know... Wrong sport.)
