Faxes In (finally): Tarean Folston

Tarean Folston

After a late flirtation with Auburn, Notre Dame finally received the commitment of Tarean Folston this afternoon, adding a key final piece to the offensive recruiting class. Let’s take a closer look at what Folston brings to the Irish offense.

TAREAN FOLSTON
Cocoa, Florida

Measureables: 5-foot-9, 190-pounds
Accolades:
Consensus four-star prospect. First-team All-State Florida 4A running back. Florida Today’s Offensive Player of the Year. Under Armour All-American game.
Impressive Offers:
Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Oregon, Stanford.
Projected Position: Running Back.

Quick Take: Notre Dame thinks they’ll landed a home run threat at running back with Folston. If Greg Bryant plays the role of Theo Riddick, Folston has some of the same home run potential that Cierre Wood possesses.

Played from the Deep-I in high school but also possesses the versatility that’s needed in the Irish offense. Can run over people, but also possesses the ability to make people miss. Father James Folston spent eight years in the NFL, and was a second-round draft pick as a linebacker.

What it means for the Irish roster: He may not garner the star ratings that Bryant does, but Notre Dame believes they’ve got a star in Folston. He’ll enter a depth chart with a lot of opportunities and nobody would be surprised to see him take advantage of them. Both Folston and Bryant a versatile running backs that catch and run the ball well.

Obligatory YouTube highlight tape: Here are some highlights from Folston’s impressive senior campaign.
