QUENTON NELSON
Red Bank Catholic (Red Bank, NJ)
Measurables: 6-5, 302
Accolades: US Army All-American, Rivals 5-Star, second-team USA Today All-American, second-team MaxPreps All-American, USA Today All-New Jersey
Impressive Offers: Alabama, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, Stanford
Projected Position: Offensive Tackle
Quick Take: If Alex Bars gives you the athleticism and future projections, Nelson is a ready-made, nasty, mauling offensive tackle. One of the dominant players in San Antonio at the US Army All-American game, Nelson has the chance to be a special lineman, one of the cornerstone recruits of the class.
He’ll join Bars as an offensive tackle in this class, but could play anywhere along the line.
What he means to Irish: He’s a key recruit who’ll throw his hat in the ring almost immediately for playing time. Like Bars, we’ll have to see how he looks when he gets to campus and starts competing, but there’s every reason to believe that Nelson is a special talent.
Obligatory YouTube highlight clip: So far, Nelson wins the UND.com Signing Day videos with his intro. Well played, young man.
