Friday night preview: Fueling the fire for Michigan

Thunder and lightning has taken over South Bend, with the sky opening up this evening. But FieldTurf has no fear, so any worry of a slow track went away when Notre Dame installed the much-maligned synthetic surface inside the stadium.

With the storms expected to clear by morning, there’s a game to be played. And the Irish had a good visitor in town to help pump up the troops.

Less than 24 hours away from kickoff, here are some video previews to get you ready for the game. And we’ll start with the NDonNBC production team’s trip to Ann Arbor, where they caught up with the Wolverines’ team leaders to prepare for kickoff.

Here’s Devin Gardner, the man Notre Dame must watch, talking about the rivalry.

And here’s a sit down with Brady Hoke, who still can’t managed to say “Ohio State.” This feels like a greatest hits tape, talking about Bo, playing ND early, the team in Ohio, and everything else. Some good stuff here.

Interestingly, he talks about the importance of home field, all while getting a dig about “the noise they pipe in.”

The man just can’t help himself.

On the defensive side of the ball, here’s veteran leader Jake Ryan.

And if we’re going through Irish enemies, the trip wouldn’t be complete without a sitdown with Desmond Howard. Now a permanent fixture on ESPN’s GameDay, Howard recounts his glory days the Heisman he won in large party to a dominant effort against the Irish.

For Irish supports, here’s a cool look at the Irish marching band… and the camera crews that track their halftime performance.
