While the game is now in the rearview mirror, tight end Ben Koyack and quarterback Everett Golson were kind enough to relive their 4th-and-11 winning touchdown connection for NBC’s production team.
In a play that will be remembered for decades, the senior tight end ran to the corner of the end zone and found himself uncovered, a bust in Stanford’s coverage that cost the Cardinal the game. But it took a perfect throw from Golson, who spotted Koyack early, rolling to his left before throwing the perfect pass.
A week after beating Stanford and moving to 5-0, Golson has a chance to beat his first collegiate love, taking on North Carolina, the team he originally committed to for football and basketball. Just a few hours from his hometown, Golson talks about giving up basketball to pursue his goals as a quarterback for the Irish.
