JALEN ELLIOTT
Richmond, Virginia

Measurables: 6’0″, 189 lbs.

Accolades: Consensus 3-star prospect, 2015 first-team All-State 5A, 2015 Richmond Times-Dispatch All-Region first team, MVP of 2015 Virginia High School All-Star game.

Impressive Offers: Auburn, Georgia, Miami, North Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech.

Projected Position: Strong Safety

Quick Take: Looking for a sleeper? Jalen Elliott is your guy. While his 3-star ranking won’t wow you, Elliott has the makings of a great safety prospect, a player who can come down in the box and hit you—among the many positive traits he brings onto the football field.

A natural leader, Elliott’s captained two teams at his high school and won state championships along the way. If he had another inch or two, he’s likely a national level recruit. Don’t be surprised if Elliott competes for playing time from jump street.

What he means to the Irish: Somebody has to come in and replace Elijah Shumate. Is Elliott that guy? Asking a freshman to make that leap isn’t easy, but it’ll be interesting to see how quickly the Virginia native absorbs Brian VanGorder’s defensive scheme.

A former high school quarterback, a multi-sport captain, a father who played college football, Elliott has all the ingredients that usually turn out a good player. We’ll see how he develops once he arrives on campus this summer.
