How to watch Notre Dame vs Boston College today on NBC

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish end their home season this week vs the Boston College Eagles on Saturday, November 19. Live coverage of Senior Day begins at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC. See below for additional information and how to watch/stream Notre Dame vs Boston College.

Though the Eagles are feared by Irish fans thanks to their dashing upsets in 1993 and 2002, Notre Dame leads the all-time series 17-9 and has won eight straight against Boston College.

The No. 18 Irish (7-3) are coming off a 35-32 win over Navy last week. Junior quarterback Drew Pyne had the best performance of his Notre Dame career by throwing four touchdown passes in the first half and adding an 11-yard scoring run, however, the offense was stifled in the second half as Pyne was sacked five times.

Despite pulling off upset victories against better opponents this season — namely, then-No. 4 Clemson, then-No. 16 Syracuse and then-No. 16 BYU, the Irish have struggled when playing against weaker and unranked teams. If pondering the spread, Notre Dame is 0-4 ATS when favored by more than a touchdown, losing outright to both Marshall and Stanford.

The Irish focus this week will be a win, but in addition to that, honoring their seniors.

“We have 25 guys that will be recognized for their last game in Notre Dame Stadium,” head coach Marcus Freeman said Monday. “That’s where a lot of the motivation and focus will be in terms of making sure we finish this home regular season off the right way for those seniors.”

The Eagles (3-7) picked up their first win against a top-25 foe since 2014 last weekend, beating No. 16 North Carolina State, 21-20. Sophomore quarterback Emmett Morehead, playing in place of injured starter Phil Jurkovec, completed a two-yard touchdown pass to receiver Joe Griffin with only 14 seconds left.

“It felt like no one wanted to leave the locker room,” Boston College head coach Jeff Hafley said. “It was like we had to go around and tell everybody, ‘Let’s go, let’s get to the busses, let’s get to the plane.’

“So we probably took more time than I’ve ever seen just with guys not wanting to leave. It was emotional in the locker room. Guys were dancing, guys were hugging. There was tears in some guys’ eyes. Guys were screaming. It was a very, very cool experience.”

How to watch Notre Dame vs Clemson tonight and the Irish all season; TV, Peacock info for 2022

For the first time in the regular season since their heavyweight bout in 2020, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will meet the No. 4 Clemson Tigers on Saturday, November 5. Live coverage begins at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC. See below for additional information and how to watch/stream the Notre Dame vs Clemson game. Saturday’s game marks the seventh overall meeting between the two schools. Clemson leads the series with a 4-2 record, the most recent Irish win obviously coming in that 2020 double-overtime classic, upsetting the then-No. 1 Tigers.

Notre Dame (5-3) defeated Syracuse, 41-24, last week, the second Irish win against a ranked opponent this season. Junior tight end Michael Mayer had 54 receiving yards, enough to break the school record for career receiving yards by a tight end. At this point, the only tight end records at Notre Dame not held by Mayer are yards in a game (Kyle Rudolph’s 164 against Michigan in 2010) and career touchdowns, in which Mayer is tied with Ken MacAfee for the school record at 15.

The Irish have struggled at home this season, but this primetime matchup will give them a chance to thoroughly reverse that worry.

“Would a win versus Clemson help me build confidence in the things we do? Absolutely,” head coach Marcus Freeman said. “That’s what victories do. What would a win like that do for our program? It’s going to help us gain confidence in what we’re doing, who we are.”

The Tigers (8-0) are also coming off a victory over Syracuse, though two weeks ago; Clemson defeated the Orange 27-21 on October 22 before going on an idle week. Starting quarterback DJ Uiagalelei was benched in the second half after his worst performance of the season where he was intercepted twice and lost a costly fumble. Freshman quarterback Cade Klubnik stepped in to help the Tigers earn the comeback win.

Uiagalelei’s first career start came in that 2020 loss, though he set a record for passing yards against Notre Dame. He is expected to return to the starting role this week.

“I felt like I figured out what I did wrong, stuff to work on,” Uiagalelei said. “Be able to improve that and make sure it doesn’t happen again. I feel like I’ve definitely moved on from that and am excited about playing Notre Dame.”

The Tigers currently hold the longest active win streak in FBS having won their last 14 straight games dating back to last season.

How to watch Notre Dame vs UNLV today exclusively on Peacock

Having underperformed in all three of their home games this season, the Notre Dame Irish will look to reverse that trend against the UNLV Rebels on Saturday, October 22. Live coverage begins at 2:30 p.m. ET exclusively on Peacock.

See below for additional information and how to watch the Notre Dame vs UNLV game.

While Notre Dame played in UNLV’s home stadium (Allegiant Stadium) two weeks ago against BYU as part of the school’s Shamrock Series, Saturday’s game actually marks the first meeting between the two. Since 1990, the Irish have a record of 19-7 against teams making their first visit to South Bend. The most recent example? A loss last month to Marshall.

Notre Dame (3-3) then also lost at home to Stanford last week.

“You’re evaluating everything,” Freeman said Monday. “Why haven’t we played as well at home? Why haven’t we played as well versus maybe opponents that haven’t been ranked as high? It starts from the top down in looking at everything we do. The way we prepare, the way we motivate, what we do on game days, what we do at home versus what we do away.”

Notre Dame had one of its worst offensive performances of the season, shut out in the first half and finishing with just 301 yards of total offense. The Cardinal defense entered last week’s matchup ranked in the bottom 20 among all FBS schools in points per game (32.8) and yards per game (431.6). Irish junior quarterback Drew Pyne finished 13-of-27 for just 151 passing yards and one touchdown. Although Marcus Freeman‘s tenure has been off to a rocky start, the first-year head coach sees this as an opportunity for growth.

“You have to be able to really stand your ground during these tough times,” Freeman siad. “There has been change. Our program is different this year than it was in the past. To really establish something special, you’re going to have to go through some challenges and difficult times.”

The UNLV Rebels (4-3) are coming off a 42-7 loss against the Air Force Falcons last Saturday, their second straight loss. Over the last two weeks, the Rebels have been outscored by their opponents by a total of 82-14. The team has been playing without starting sophomore quarterback Doug Brumfield who sustained a concussion in the second quarter of UNLV’s 40-7 loss against San Jose Staté. Sophomore Cameron Friel has been playing in Brumfield’s absence and finished 8-of-10 for 108 yards, a touchdown and an interception in last week’s loss against Air Force. Head coach Marcus Arroyo, who is in his third season with the Rebels, says Brumfield’s status for Saturday is still considered day-by-day, but Brumfield reportedly did not practice either Tuesday or Wednesday.

How to watch Notre Dame vs BYU today and the Irish all season; TV, Peacock info for 2022

The 11th rendition of Notre Dame’s Shamrock Series will feature the Irish against the No. 16 BYU Cougars today at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders. Live coverage begins at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock. See below for additional information and how to watch/stream the Notre Dame vs BYU game.

Notre Dame has never lost in the Shamrock Series, its not-quite-annual trip to a neutral site. The university hosts the game and makes an event of the weekend, and the football program has delivered each and every time, be it against a ranked Arizona State in Dallas or against No. 18 Wisconsin at Soldier Field in Chicago.

The Irish (2-2) are now not only coming off an idle week, but are also just two weeks removed from beating North Carolina 45-32. Notre Dame set season highs in points, rushing yards (287), total yards (576), and first downs (35). Junior quarterback Drew Pyne finished with a career-best 24-for-34 for 289 yards and three touchdowns. After an ugly start to the season, Notre Dame’s offensive line allowed just one sack, which enabled running backs Audric Estimé and Chris Tyree to have their best performances of the season. Estimé finished with 134 rushing yards and two touchdowns while Tyree added 80 rushing yards and a touchdown and RB Logan Diggs ran for 50 yards. Head coach Marcus Freeman credited the victory to the offensive line’s performance.

“I think it’s a testament to our offensive line,” Freeman said. “It starts with them. I don’t care what running back you have back there, if your offensive line isn’t executing, blocking, to the way it has to, nobody’s gonna be able to run the ball. Our offensive line continues to get better and better and better, which is really helping out our run game.”

The BYU Cougars (4-1) are coming off a 38-26 victory over Utah State last Thursday night. Led by quarterback Jaren Hall, who has thrown 142 straight passes without an interception, BYU is making gradual progress toward a possible New Year’s Six bowl in its last season as a football independent before joining the Big 12.

According to Cougars head coach Kalani Sitake, Hall is an exemplary leader both on and off the field.

“He is a perfect example of what it means to be a BYU football player,” Sitake said.
The quarterback position at BYU always gets a lot of public attention, and Jaren does a tremendous job handling both that spotlight on him from outside the program and the important role he plays within our program as a leader on our team. But he really settled into his role.”

How to watch Notre Dame vs Cal today and the Irish all season: TV, Peacock info for 2022

The Notre Dame Irish seek the first win of their season and of Marcus Freeman’s head coaching career against the Cal Bears on today. Live coverage begins at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock. See below for additional information and how to watch/stream the Notre Dame vs California game.

In Freeman’s first home game as the Irish head coach, Notre Dame lost 26-21 to Marshall, making him the first coach in program history to open his career 0-3. More concerning on a long-term note, Irish sophomore quarterback Tyler Buchner suffered a season-ending shoulder injury — a high-grade sprain to the AC joint in his non-throwing shoulder — in the fourth quarter of the loss.

That elevates junior Drew Pyne to the starting role. Pyne threw a combined 33 passes in two games last season. Facing Cal will be his first career start.

“I don’t see the offense changing extremely,” Freeman said Monday. “We’re still going to be able to do some of the QB runs we do with Tyler and obviously the passing game will continue to enhance it and figure out ways to be more consistent in it and put [Pyne] in a situation to hopefully have more completions.

Freshman quarterback Steve Angeli will serve as the backup for Pyne.

Cal improved to 2-0 with a 20-14 win against UNLV on Saturday and a win this week would give the Bears their fourth 3-0 start in six seasons under head coach Justin Wilcox. Cal quarterback Jack Plummer transferred to Cal this offseason after leading Purdue much of last season, including at Notre Dame where he threw for 187 yards and a touchdown on 25-of-36 passing. Plummer will become the first opposing quarterback this century (since 2000) to start at Notre Dame Stadium for two different schools.

Today’s game marks the first meeting between Notre Dame and California since 1967 when the Irish defeated the Bears, 41-8. Notre Dame has won all four of its previous meetings against California.
